NRW International Graduate Research School BIOTECH-PHARMA
The health industry is one of the largest sectors of North-Rhine-Westfalia's economy. Thus, there is a growing need for well-trained young scientists in the interdisciplinary field of drug development. The graduate research school program BIOTECH-PHARMA has been designed to provide the necessary didactic courses and research training required for urgently needed young scientists and future leaders in this field. The research school covers all key aspects of pharmaceutical and biotechnological drug research ranging from the identification of drug targets and lead compounds (chemicals, biologicals), development of novel biological therapies (like protein-, gene- and cell-based therapies as well as nanotechnology) to drug regulatory affairs. BIOTECH-PHARMA is an interdisciplinary school with input from the Medical Faculty and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bonn, and non-university organizations - CAESAR (Center of Advanced European Studies and Research), BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) - as well as industrial partners.
International cooperation partner is e.g. the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Pharmacology, Nashville, USA
